TCHO-A-DAY is a new product from TCHO, packaged in convenient 8 gram bars in easy-to-open clear jars. If you eat 10 pieces though, like I do, it defeats the purpose. But it is so good. They come in 30-, 60-and 90-daycontainers

  • Premium, dark, decadent, craft chocolate from San Francisco's only chocolate manufacturer

  • Assortment of "Chocolatey," "Fruity," "Nutty," and "Citrus" chocolate

Nibchoc - "Chocolate Hit" without any of the bad stuff

According to creator Rachel Niblock, "Nibchoc is designed to provide a satisfying "chocolate hit" without any of the additives found in chocolate. Its made with cacao nibs, from the fruit of the Theobroma Cacao tree, which in their raw state contain over 300 chemical compounds that render them highly nutritious."

What makes the bars sweet (and edible)? Agave nectar. And they're bound together with coconut oil. If you're a diabetic, vegan or coeliac, Nibchoc would be a great option for you.

Review: Green & Black's Organic Chocolate - Toffee Chocolate Bar

We've been sampling the Green and Blacks Organic Toffee Chocolate bar, and we have to say it's pretty good. Here's what Green and Black's has to say:

Our delectable, organic toffee is made by heating sugar along with butter and molasses to create the perfect flavorful blend. This full, concentrated flavor allows the crunchy toffee pieces to punch their way through our intense 34% cocoa-rich milk chocolate. Available in 3.5oz bars.

We agree with the crunchy toffee idea, but overall the pieces were very small and fine. We like our toffee pieces to be a little larger, but the smaller pieces did provide a big toffee and chocolate flavor. We liked the milk chocolate, but would also like to see a dark chocolate and toffee bar. Overall we'll give this a thumbs up, and think you'll enjoy it. We finished ours in about 15 minutes, while we sipped on a nice cabernet.

Candy Snob Celebrates Earth Day All Week - Friday's Pick

taza cinnamon.pngCandy Snob's week-long celebration of Earth Day is nearing the end of the road. Our next to last pick is a super cool chocolate maker, Taza. Taza is based near Boston, and is a true bean-to-bar chocolate maker. In addition, its the only maker of 100% stone ground chocolate in the United States.

Taza sources organically grown cacao beans directly from small farmer cooperatives ensuring those farmers receive more than fair trade prices for their high quality cacao. Taza is uniquely positioned as one of the only independently owned, socially and environmentally responsible chocolate makers in the country. Taza's chocolate making process is designed to capture the true flavor of the cacao bean by minimally processing the chocolate every step of the way.

The folks at Taza have recently been kind enough to send us some samples, so be on the lookout for our reviews coming soon. The stuff they sent looks amazing!

Candy Snob Celebrates Earth Day All Week - Earth Day Pick!

flavor_raw_md.jpgSweetriot's flavor raw - new organic and antioxidant rich raw cacao beans!

While a little more bitter than normal (well, a lot more bitter), this is one of the healthiest ways to eat chocolate - "because raw cacao is the top antioxidant bearing food, it has double the amount of antioxidants of red wine and triple the amount of green tea leaves. it reduces the risk of heart disease and cancer and it contains theobromine - a natural mood stimulant and Phenylethylamine - the feeling of being in love!"

Candy Snob Celebrates Earth Day All Week - Monday's Pick

bar_organic_chocolove.jpgChocolove Organic Dark Chocolate Bar with 61% Cocoa Content

"On a Caribbean Island, organic farming has stimulated the cocoa trees to produce cocoa beans that are full of character. The big fruity flavor, acidity, and bitterness of the beans are artfully crafted into a balanced full-bodied premium chocolate as only the Belgians know how to do. Upon eating, the extra cocoa butter softly gives way to tangy, bittersweet cocoa flavor."

"The Absolute Best Organic Chocolate in the World"

organic_green_blacks_almond.jpgOr at least that's what Really Natural has to say in its 2/22 post about Green & Black's Organic Milk Chocolate Bar, with Whole Almonds.

Candy Snob has yet to review Green & Black's, but it has been on our list for some time. But as a self-proclaimed connoisseur of organic chocolate, as well as an expert on living a natural lifestyle, we're going to take their word for it.

Interesting side-note we learned - Green & Black's was the first to earn the UK's Fairtrade mark.

What's inside to qualify it as organic? Nothing but good Soy Lecithin, Organic Vanilla. Organic Raw Cane Sugar, Organic Almonds (25%) Organic Whole Milk Powder (20.2%), Organic Cocoa Liquor and Organic Cocoa Butter.
